WHAT IS THE ENCUENTRO 54O, DANCE?
We are a one-of-a-kind event and experience in the world, as well as one of the most important dance events in Latin America, but most importantly, we are a collaborative community where students, teachers, speakers, artists, and international leaders gather in magical and representative locations of Mexico. Over 5 days, you will receive more than 52 hours of classes, workshops, activities, conferences, participation in a Dance Gala, and auditions to obtain professional opportunities and scholarships to study at some of the world’s most prestigious institutions.
We will work on the 5 most important areas that we consider a human being needs today to achieve balance in their life: physical, mental, emotional, spiritual, and financial. We personalize these areas in a functional way for the artistic sector, based on real issues we have discovered that prevent dancers, teachers, artists in general, and cultural agents from building the success stories they so desire.
That’s why we developed this immersive experience of Encuentro 540 with the aim of creating, over these 5 days, a simulation as close to the reality of what this career and field demand today. Our goal is to awaken the maximum potential of all participants, build a collaborative community outside of a competitive environment that is changing the traditional way of doing things, thus driving thousands of success stories. This is achieved through living the extraordinary experience of Encuentro 540 Dance.
The Tonatiuh Gómez Foundation, in collaboration with allied organizations, is calling upon dance students, pre-professional dancers, and professionals, primarily with backgrounds in classical, neoclassical, and contemporary dance, who are interested in developing and professionalizing their artistic careers, inviting them to participate in the «Encuentro 54O, Dance, Fourth Edition.»
The event consists:
Exclusive and one of the best hotels in Mexico, its views and architecture are a natural enjoyment intertwined with history. It’s an all-inclusive hotel (meals, beverages, snacks, hydration stations, as well as the use of all hotel amenities).
The trained and experienced staff of the «Encounter 54O, Dance» will be available to assist all participants 24 hours a day, for the entire 5 days and 4 nights of the event, and will also be available to parents and guardians.
All participants must be accommodated at the Hacienda Cantalagua Hotel, without exceptions.

WHAT IS THE PROGRAM?
DANCERS We will address the 5 aspects we consider every human being needs, personalized for dancers through these activities:
DANCERS CALL
GROUPS AND AGES
Dance students, dancers, and teachers aged 13 to 17 – 18 and above.
During the ‘Encuentro 540, Dance’, participants will be grouped according to age, abilities, or maximum capacity of the spaces for activities and classes. Each group of participants will have a staff member in charge, who will be there to support the participants, provide general assistance, and ensure the best possible experience for everyone.
Dancers of intermediate-advanced level, regardless of their nationality, aged 13 and above, are eligible to participate.
To take part in the ‘Encuentro 540, Dance,’ it will be necessary to submit a video for preselection. This video will be evaluated by a committee external to the foundation, who will provide the verdict.

REQUIREMENTS FOR PRESELECTION
To participate in the «Encuentro 540, Dance,» applicants must:
Fill out the pre-selection registration form, which you can find HERE
Send a video with the following specifications:
a. The applicant must mention their name, age, and place of residence.
b. Video of a ballet class with a maximum duration of 10 minutes, showing exercises only on one side (demi pliés, grand pliés, battement tendus, battement jetés, rond de jambe, battement fondues, adagio, grand battement, pirouettes en dehors and en dedans, medium and grand allegro). *In the case of women, center exercises must be performed on pointe shoes.
c. The video must be recorded with a fixed camera and good lighting.
d. The recording must be recent (within the last 6 months).
e. The video must be uploaded to the YouTube platform with the title (Applicant’s Name/Encuentro540/2024) and the link* sent to contacto@fundaciontonatiuhgomez.org
f. Example: If the applicant’s name is Ana Rodríguez, the video title will be «AnaRodriguez/Encuentro540/2024/». Videos that do not meet these requirements will not be accepted.
The reception of videos and documentation to be submitted will be from Thursday, March 14, 2024, to Friday, May 20, 2024, at 18:00 hrs. For administrative reasons and out of respect for other participants, requests received after the deadline will not be accepted.
As the requests are received, they will be evaluated by an Artistic Committee composed of teachers external to the Foundation, and the results will be notified individually via email, indicating the amount of support for the scholarship, if applicable, along with the specifications to complete their registration in the «Encuentro 540, Dance.»
In case you are unable to send the video, an online or in-person masterclass will be held on April 13, 2024, with an additional cost of $23USD. With this masterclass, you will be evaluated to be part of the «Encuentro 540, Dance,» and if you are eligible for a scholarship, you will be informed later on.
PARTICIPATION FEE
After submitting your pre-selection video, if selected, a percentage of scholarship will be determined by an External Committee to the Foundation, and the participation fee with the applied scholarship will be sent to you.

More than 52 hours of classes, conferences, and activities (classical ballet, contemporary, pas de deux, pointe work, and more).
Conferences and workshops (entrepreneurship, leadership, finance for artists, socio-emotional workshop, and more).
Recreational activities (integration dynamics, themed dinners).
Audition for scholarships to national and international schools and institutions.
Participation in the closing show.
Individual ticket for the closing show.

Services
Includes:
Hotel: Accommodation for 5 days, 4 nights at the Hotel Hacienda Cantalagua.
Use of the facilities and amenities of the host hotel (pool, wifi, evening experiences).
Complete meal package (breakfasts, lunches, dinners, snacks, and hydration throughout the day during your activities).
Accident insurance: It’s very important to us that this experience is amazing, magical, and safe for you, which is why we include accident insurance coverage throughout the Encuentro 540, Dance from August 14th to 18th, 2024.
Transportation: Round trip from Mexico City International Airport to the hotel.

ABOUT SCHOLARSHIPS
With the aim of creating more opportunities, scholarships will be awarded for the ‘Encuentro 540, Dance’, allowing access to this extraordinary experience through a very accessible participation fee for you dancers who meet the requirements outlined in this call.

Write a letter of motivation, explaining your reasons for applying. (Write a letter explaining your reasons and interest in being awarded this scholarship. Tell us a bit about your goals, what you would like to achieve, and what you have achieved as a dancer. Maximum 1 page. ONLY PARTICIPANTS APPLYING FOR SCHOLARSHIPS)
Once the video is submitted, the Evaluation Committee will determine the percentage of the scholarship if you have been awarded one. The scholarship will be applied only to the participation fee of the ‘Encuentro 540, Dance’, which includes recreational activities, classes, courses, conferences, and participation in the closing show. (Does not apply to services such as accommodation, meals, transportation, insurance.)
Receipt of videos and documentation
From Thursday, March 14th, 2024, to Friday, May 20th, 2024, at 6:00 p.m. (For administrative reasons and out of respect for other participants, scholarships greater than 30% will not be awarded after the closing date.)
